Making big books?

I would love to know what you all do for these? How you get your ideas? Are they shared but teacher written? Does the class write any big books together?

Permalink Reply by Rochelle Krieg on November 21, 2009 at 11:42pm: I teach 5yr olds (Pre Primary) we often make big books to share that are based on a story that we have read. The children usually paint a picture A3 size that has pre printed text on the page eg. Walking through the forest I saw....., I ________ all the way to town., On muddled up farm the __________ say ________________. The children then either dictate or have a go and writing to finish the sentence. Once completed I use an A3 display book to construct the book. This easily allows for the children to take home their work once we have finished using the book or for the page to be included as part of their work sample books at a later stage.The children enjoy getting the book out of the book corner and reading it with their parents or class mates. They also enjoy seeing their work.; ▶ Reply to This
